Should we lock a mortgage rate today?

Question by swank1269: Ive heard of a federal program which will give 50% of your home loan if you are a public servant. Anyone know?

We close in 27 days – we can lock a rate of 5.375 today which is down 3/8ths from last week. Should we lock in today or wait a week??

I think rates will still be going down over the next couple months, illness but in a week… I mean, visit this site you might save like 0.1 percent or something, if any.

  1. No; it’s probably a good idea to lock. The market is favorable for you today. Follow this advice. New rates are issued at about 11am est. Wait until Wed. after 11am est and THEN LOCK. That rate is great..don’t get greedy.

  2. I would lock tomorrow. Just heard that rates hit 5.25% on a 30 year fixed. let’s see if this sticks.
